Our underground Integrated Tool Carriers are all equipped with the latest and highest standard. The MEWP is compliant in accordance with the Australian Standard AS/NZS 1418.10-2011. Our clients can have the peace of mind that they are complaint with current MEWP regulations.
MEWP Integrated Tool Carrier Functions & Compliance Checks
- Chassis Inclination: – Inclinometer in operators cabin provides real-time readout of inclination angle, and audible warning,
- Locking pins – Volvo fitted with hydraulic lock pins with operator warning lamp
- Unauthorized use – Volvo fitted with key locked controls and lockable isolator switch.
- Guards to protect persons at controls and standing adjacent to MEWP – Operator in Fops cabin. Guarding provided around engine, not accessible from ground while in use.
- Engine Exhaust – Faces rear of MEWP
- Filling points for fluids away from ignition sources – Filling points below egress ladder, away from ignition sources
- Battery constraint, constrained in ventilated area – Positioned on rear counterweight enclosed in protective enclosure, adequate ventilation provided
- Load Sensing System – Inclinometer with audible alarm
- Trapping and shearing – Physical location of shear points, are beyond the reach of persons in platform or on ground
- Speeds of extending structure – 8 m/s visually checked,
- Level of work platform – The Volvo lifting linkages keep the platform level while lifting.
- Platform level adjustment – Manual adjustment can be performed by operator, by the IT operator
- Support in transport position – Platform is locked to quick hitch while in transport
- Activation and operation – Controls are positioned on the right side of the operator and are protected from accidental movement
- Direction of movement – All controls clearly labelled and in direction of movement, Back is up forwards is down
- Work Platform controls: Location, accessibility and protection – Only E-stop and emergency lowering device are located on the platform, in cabinet attached to rear wall of platform.
- Duplicate controls for retrieval – Only E-stop and emergency lowering device are duplicate controls, they can be operated at either location.
- Restoration of power, no movement shall occur unless initiated by the operator – As all pilot valves are spring centred and the cylinders have got hydraulic locks no movement will occur
- Overriding Emergency system Overriding control to retrieve platform, by hold to run control and independent from selection control devices – Fully independent system fitted and incorporates hold to run valving to Platform and ITC chassis.
- Main switch with locking device – Fitted with lockable isolation switch. Located next to Volvo lowering device. (painted RED)
- MEWP functional tests – Tested and inspected, All functions, safety devices working correctly,
- Emergency systems: Location and instructions marked on MEWP at relevant locations – Displayed on ITC
- Tyre pressure to be indicated on MEWP – Tyre pressure monitor fitted
Work Basket Platform Controls and Checks:
- Guard rail systems – All comply with AS 1657 Platforms and walk ways.
- Fall arrest Restraint anchorages on platform – Rud Lugs welded to frame below hand rail, tested with fall test.
- Gate To be self-closing and fastened – Self-closing, self-locking , opening inwards
- Floor of work platform: Any opening in the floor shall be dimensioned not to allow the passing of a 15mm sphere – Floor covered with C255 web forge mesh
- Access ladder – Complies to AS 1657
- Hand holds and hand rails – Made from diameter 30 solid round bars. Complies to AS 1657
- Design check: to verify that MEWP is manufactured to correct standard
- Work platform rated capacities – Plaque fitted to platform
- MEWP functional tests – Tested and inspected, All functions, safety devices working correctly,
